Miikka Kiprusoff had a lot of help. Kiprusoff made 33 saves for fourth shutout of the season and 34th overall, and his teammates combined to block 30 more shots in the Calgary Flames’ 2-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. “Guys are paying the price and that’s what you have to do if you want to win games like this,” Kiprusoff said.

The Detroit Red Wings started and finished strong. Johan Franzen scored twice, and Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and two assists in Detroit’s 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Tomas Holmstrom added a goal and an assist, and Drew Miller also scored for Detroit, which at least temporarily, moved into the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot.
